Hair Me is more than a stage play—it is a movement.
Founded by poet, playwright, and performer Leslie Saint-Julien, Hair Me began as a one-woman theatrical production exploring the deep connections between Black hair, culture, and identity. But from the very first line, it became clear: this was only the beginning.
Now established as a nonprofit cultural center, Hair Me is a vibrant space dedicated to uplifting Black voices through the arts. Rooted in ancestral reverence and creative expression, we offer a platform for storytelling that educates, heals, and celebrates the Black experience. From poetry and performance to visual art, music, and public dialogue, our programming invites everyone to learn from, and grow within, Black cultural truth.
We are a home for creators, dreamers, scholars, and visionaries. Our proceeds support community initiatives, youth education, and emerging Black artists in film, theater, music, literature, and beyond.
Hair Me is where heritage lives, creativity thrives, and culture speaks for itself.

Leslie Saint-Julien
Poet. Author. Actor. Visionary Creative.
Leslie Saint-Julien is a multidisciplinary artist whose work lives at the intersection of storytelling, spirituality, and cultural truth. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and rooted deeply in her Haitian heritage, Leslie uses poetry, performance, and dramatic arts to amplify Black voices and inspire generational healing.
She is the visionary behind Hair Me: A Journey Through the Rich Tapestry of Black Hair, a one-woman stage play that became the seed for something greater—a cultural center where art and ancestry converge. Through HairMe.org, Leslie continues her mission to celebrate the beauty, complexity, and brilliance of Black identity.
With a background in strategic communications, over a decade of federal public service, and a growing platform as a keynote speaker and award-winning artist, Leslie leads with purpose, compassion, and authenticity. Her work is a living tribute to the women who came before her, the stories that shaped her, and the communities she is committed to uplifting.
"When the hair speaks... listen."
Leslie invites you to not only hear the message—but to be part of the movement.
